Atlas Copco has unveiled a major upgrade to its TCX industrial chiller range introducing the use of R32 refrigerant alongside a suite of enhancements designed to boost energy efficiency, reliability and environmental performance.

The new TCX 13-110AG series covers a cooling capacity range of 13kW–115kW, meeting the needs of a wide spectrum of industrial applications where precise and stable temperature control is essential. Typical users include sectors such as machine tooling, plastics processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and food and beverage production, where maintaining process consistency directly impacts product quality and operational uptime.
At the heart of the upgraded design are high-efficiency scroll compressors, brazed plate heat exchangers, and microchannel condensers, all engineered to maximise heat transfer while minimising energy consumption and refrigerant charge. The adoption of R32, a refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) nearly 68% lower than the previously used R410A, reflects Atlas Copco’s commitment to supporting customers in meeting their carbon-reduction goals and environmental compliance obligations.
Further improvements include electronic expansion valves (EEVs) for precise refrigerant control, ensuring optimal system performance under varying load conditions, and optional EC brushless fans that deliver additional energy savings and quieter operation. The chillers are also built for durability, featuring corrosion-resistant materials suitable for demanding industrial environments.
A major innovation in the TCX range is its integration with Smartlink, Atlas Copco’s advanced remote monitoring and connectivity platform. Smartlink enables users to monitor performance in real time, schedule predictive maintenance and optimise operational parameters – helping prevent costly downtime and extend equipment life.
Commenting on the launch, Chris Ferriday, business line manager for process cooling solutions at Atlas Copco Compressors UK, said: “The transition to R32 refrigerant represents a significant advancement for our TCX chiller line. It allows our customers to lower their carbon emissions without compromising efficiency or reliability. The upgraded design delivers measurable energy savings while ensuring long-term sustainability.”
With the enhanced TCX range, Atlas Copco continues to strengthen its position as a leader in industrial cooling solutions, delivering technology that balances performance, sustainability and operational intelligence for modern manufacturing environments.
