Introduction by RACA Journal: As HVAC systems across Africa become more digitally enabled, the conversation is shifting from whether to modernise to how to do so sustainably. Digital controls, remote monitoring, and energy optimisation offer clear benefits – but only when layered onto physically secure, maintainable infrastructure supported by appropriate skills. In this second part, we examine why incremental modernisation, embedded digital intelligence, and local skills development are emerging as the most practical pathways to long-term HVAC resilience.
