The OTTC Technical and Air-Conditioning Diploma Project 2001 was a heat pump plant.

The requirement was to build a heat pump system that was able to do pool heating, underfloor heating, air-conditioning and humidity control.
As Peter (Dobelin) was already full-time lecturing at OTTC, he included all of his students in this project. The project had to be designed to fit in a very small plant room at the end of the pool.
So not as to lose any energy, the ducting was laid around the pool – this includes a small space for servicing lights ducts. Under the floor tiles around the pool, the underfloor heating pipes were installed.
The outlets of the air-conditioning were installed to ensure that no moisture was collected on the windows. The return air went out of the end of the pool and was re-used for heat recovery. The whole project was built by students. The OTTC Diploma test included the design and calculations.
Every student had to do the full project for the test.
