It all started in 2001 as a small service workshop for all makes of transport refrigeration units and was founded by Desmond Branford who remains involved as chief executive officer.

Based in Montague Gardens, Cool-Tranz has grown into one of the leading transport refrigeration service centres in South Africa. Their prime location in Cape Town provides easy access from all major roads around Cape Town, as well as the national highway to Namibia.
The combined decades of hands-on skills in the refrigerated transport industry proudly guarantees all their clients a reliable and trustworthy service experience from direct drive to diesel electric, Kooltubes and trailer units.
“Refrigerated transport fleets operate 24/7 and when the refrigeration system fails or needs a service, our team needs to respond, no matter what time of day. This commitment to service and support to our clients has been the foundation of Cool-Tranz. Our wide client base in the fresh and frozen food, dairy, pharmaceutical and medical supply chains bear testimony to our level of service,” says Desmond Branford.
Cool-Tranz is an official agent for Transfrig (sales, services, and repairs) and is also equipped to service and repair Thermo King and Carrier transport refrigeration units as well. This makes Cool-Tranz a one-of-a-kind service centre.
In 2019, Cool-Tranz added another division, Cool Bus Systems, the official Western Cape agent for Valeo Thermal Bus Systems, also known as Spheros – under the guidance of managing director Shane Branford.
The ability to assist with installation, sales, service, and the repair of bus air conditioning systems, as well as all makes of transport refrigeration systems, makes Cool-Tranz a one-stop service centre for all mobile cooling systems.
“Our gratitude goes out to our loyal staff, and clients who have supported us for two decades. As we celebrate this milestone, we trust our client support continues to be of mutual benefit for decades still to come,” Desmond Bradford adds.
