igus has unveiled its point-and-shoot igusGO App – a cutting-edge solution that allows users to use their mobile phones to photograph equipment and immediately get information that can help improve what moves with a lubrication-free alternative.
igus South Africa managing director, Ian Hewat, says the new igusGO App uses our cloud platform with Artificial Intelligence to show the optimisation potential of motion plastics for over 450 applications in just a few seconds.
The company has developed a free app that allows users to simply take a photo of their application, whether it’s a coffee machine, a bottling plant or an excavator. igusGO’s intelligence then provides recommendations on where igus products like Bushes, Linear Bearings, Spherical Bearings or Cable Carriers can be incorporated to reduce costs and extend service life without lubrication needs.
“Many of our customers are not aware of just how many application options there are for all our products. Therefore, we developed the igusGO App. It’s an addition to our product and service offering and is available 24/7,” says Frank Blase, CEO at igus head office in Germany.
The best thing about igusGO is that its intelligence continues to grow every day and currently recognises over 450 applications, and the database grows daily based on user submissions.
Hewat says another useful feature of the app is its ability to recognise products for reordering purposes. The technology specifically makes it easy to reorder e-chains from the company’s vast energy chain series. The product recognition app allows users to photograph an installed e-chain and the AI will identify the correct replacement part number from 50 available chain series.
“With our product recognition, we want to help all employees in companies to order spare parts really quickly.”
