The Global Cold Chain Alliance – SA will be hosting a one-day, virtual short course for employees working at cold stores using Ammonia. By registering to participate you ensure that safety comes first. Ammonia safety is one of the major risks for refrigerated warehouses. This course will provide critical information in terms of ammonia safety as the programme takes you through the advantages, dangers, future, regulations, best practices and lessons learnt (how ammonia spills have been dealt with). An essential part of this course is looking at the ammonia emergency response plan – are you prepared?
The purpose of this short course is to increase awareness and promote safety & best practices in terms of ammonia in cold stores and what you can expect to learn will include the following:
- What makes ammonia one of the most efficient refrigerants even though it is hazardous?
- Which regulations govern ammonia?
- What are the Local and International best practices in terms of safety?
- Lessons learnt: How we dealt with an Ammonia Spill
- You have an ammonia leak – what now?
- Is your ammonia emergency plan up to standard and do you know where YOU fit into that plan?
