A well-designed cold room is essential for an unbroken cold chain, yet there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution for the most efficient design

Last year I received an enquiry into cold room design – little did I know at the time just how complex an issue I was attempting to tackle. I say ‘attempting’ because there are not enough pages in a Cold Chain Africa to do this topic justice, so please view this article as a mere extract, an effort at an overview (perhaps not even that). My advice would be to stick to the SANS 10400 building regulations and to ask the professionals who’ve been doing this for years.
